Abstract

This theoretical-methodological and exploratory article aims to discuss the prevention of violence against women perpetrated by intimate partners. Vulnerabilities associated with this form of violence are addressed, and two intervention strategies—narrative practices and mindfulness—are proposed, which may be integrated with each other, public policies, and other interventions. These approaches may be implemented collectively or individually, aiming to improve communication and emotional self-regulation, reduce the escalation of marital conflicts, and, in some cases, promote the maintenance of physical distance. Their use should be guided by an assessment of the risks and potentialities of each relational context. Although these strategies have the potential to strengthen preventive actions and support interventions aimed at breaking the cycle of violence, further research, particularly intervention-based studies, is needed to examine the effects of combining mindfulness and narrative practices in cases of violence against women perpetrated by intimate partners.
