Abstract

In this article we intend to examine how the interdisciplinary dialogue between History and Literature takes place in the novel The Ships of António Lobo Antunes. Working with the parody of the founding myths and the adventure of the most representative historical figures of Portugal, the author seeks to demystify the past in the face of the present, to criticizes expansionism and colonialism. At the same time, the criticism is also addressed to the Salazar Dictatorship, seen as an attempt to prolong the harmful effects of colonialism.
