Abstract

This article, at first, intends to study the concept of ekphrasis, and then apply it in poems of Homer, Theocritus, Keats, Alberto de Oliveira, Verlaine, Wallace Stevens and Murilo Mendes. Our intent is to demonstrate that the rhetorical figure of ekphrasis, more than simple description, meant to be a mimesis of culture.
